Why Alpinistas Hosts Mountaineering Courses in Lassen National Park

Lassen National Park is a winter wonderland for women who want to learn mountaineering skills!

Nestled in Northern California, the park offers a variety of challenging peaks and a diverse landscape that are perfect for beginners and experienced climbers alike.

One of the main reasons why Lassen National Park is a great place for women to learn mountaineering skills in winter is its accessibility. The park is easily accessible from major cities like San Francisco and Sacramento, making it a convenient destination for weekend trips or longer excursions. Additionally, the park offers a variety of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails, making it easy to have other options if you wanted to extend your trip for longer than just our one day course.

While we do not include a summit on our Mountaineering 101 or 201 courses, another reason why Lassen National Park is a great place for women to learn mountaineering skills in winter is its diversity of terrain. The park boasts a variety of peaks, including Lassen Peak, the largest volcano in the Cascade Range. This peak offers a challenging climb, with an elevation gain of over 2,000 feet, but also provides stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Additionally, the park offers a variety of other peaks, including Brokeoff Mountain, which offers a more moderate climb and a chance to see the park's diverse flora and fauna, however, most likely snow covered in winter.

Lassen National Park is a great place for women to explore as the park attracts a diverse group of visitors, including women of all ages and backgrounds. This creates a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can learn and grow together.

So don’t hesitate! Pack your gear, or rent some from us, and get ready to explore Lassen National Park this the winter!
