Half Dome in a Day!

What an Amazing Day!

17 miles, ~4,745’ elevation gain round trip

Prepare for an exhilarating adventure on the Half Dome hike, a challenging and immensely rewarding day-long excursion.

Departing from Curry Village at the crack of dawn, we anticipate returning to the Valley around 6-7 pm, or potentially later.

This hike is categorized as "extremely strenuous," encompassing over 16 miles of terrain with an ascent and descent of nearly 5,000 feet.

The journey commences at Happy Isles, where you'll navigate a series of steep granite steps along the Mist Trail, offering striking views of Vernal and Nevada Fall. The pinnacle of the hike involves a steep cable system, requiring climbers to ascend the final 425 vertical feet using a secure 1/2-inch steel cable handrail.

*Important Considerations for Half Dome Ascent:

The Cable Route presents a thrilling yet challenging option. Its exposed and steep nature may not suit individuals with fear of heights. However, conquering Half Dome's summit is optional, as the remarkable views from Sub Dome are equally awe-inspiring! Those who prefer not to summit can stay at Sub Dome, bask in the breathtaking scenery, and await the group's return. Those that choose to go with their guide to summit Half Dome will be using climbing protection when ascending and descending, as provided and instructed by your guide.
